Quick and easy to install, maintain and extend

Newtrax Infrastructure Devices provide both tag reading and communication routing in a single battery-powered device that can easily be installed with a simple tie-wrap. No wires needed for power, no wires needed for communications. Simply fix the device and turn it on, it will automatically detect neighbor devices and attach itself to the network.

Active RFID tag and mesh modem are integrated into miner cap lamps. Miners do not need to carry or recharge an additional device.

High precision online tracking

Mobile personnel and vehicles are tracked to the nearest Infrastructure Device and since every single Infrastructure Device is a communication routing point as well as a tag reader precise location of personnel and vehicles is reported to the surface in real-time.

Tracking is not limited to zones and there is no offline sections with location log buffered and sent only when the mobile device becomes in range of a communication link.

Alarm button for miners and 2-way text messaging capability

Cap lamps are outfitted with a button that can immediately transmit an alarm signal to the surface. The Newtrax infrastructure also supports 2-way text messaging between underground personnel and a surface operator or between two people underground.

Reliable tracking of vehicles with personnel

Newtrax long range and purpose-built protocol ensures best-available probability of detection of all tags in fast-moving tag clusters, for instance vehicles carrying personnel passing through checkpoints in ramps or in long tunnels.

Resilient communication infrastructure

The Newtrax network infrastructure is self-forming and self-healing. If a link to the surface is lost due to an accident, isolated portions of the network still function and can allow underground personnel to communicate between each other.
